Hays Success Story
How Hays EMEA increased employee engagement and team spirit with Humanoo
Hays EMEA, a leading recruitment company, operates across a diverse and geographically dispersed region, making employee engagement a unique challenge. With teams spread across multiple countries and cultures, maintaining a cohesive and motivated workforce requires innovative approaches. This is where Humanoo came in. Hays needed a solution to transcend geographical boundaries and unite its workforce around a common goal of wellbeing and team spirit.
Employee activation
Hays implemented several strategic initiatives to roll out Humanoo successfully across EMEA. These included tailored communication campaigns, leadership endorsements, and targeted challenges that resonated with the diverse workforce.
“With 15 countries in our EMEA region, we decided to get creative and personal with internally promoting the new collaboration with Humanoo. We brightened our offices with eye-catching posters and sent emails in our employees’ native language. Humanoo’s flexibility meant each country got its own special onboarding session, so everyone felt right at home with the app and its features. To keep the excitement going, each country launched a fun local challenge with prizes up for grabs. Thanks to this rollout, we smashed all our Q1 goals just with the launch!” – Ewa Tran, Project Manager DE&I and Wellbeing EMEA at Hays EMEA.
These activation strategies ensured every employee felt included and motivated to participate regardless of location. Using a mix of initiatives, Hays EMEA engaged employees at all levels.
Results:
Almost 50%* of Hays EMEA employees have activated their Humanoo accounts. *Industry benchmark: 15% activation rate
On average, users are active on Humanoo for 3.5 weeks per month.
In total, Hays EMEA employees have collected 796,843 diamonds since the launch of Humanoo.
Using Humanoo to build team spirit
Beyond individual participation, Humanoo strengthened team spirit, enhancing the existing initiatives across Hays EMEA. The platform’s challenges allowed employees to connect, compete, and collaborate despite being physically separated.
“For World Mental Health Day, we launched our first-ever region-wide Mindful Steps Challenge. Everyone cares for their mental health differently—some stay active while others meditate—so we created two challenges to suit everyone. Countries competed for the highest combined average of steps and earn mindfulness points. This challenge highlighted our employees’ best qualities: their teamwork and unity. From the start, we saw interactions across regions, with teams sharing best practices and inspiring each other. Watching entire countries come together for lunch walks, encouraging and supporting one another, was the best sign of a successful challenge.” – Ewa Tran, Project Manager DE&I and Wellbeing EMEA at Hays EMEA.
Hays EMEA created challenges ranging from physical activities such as step challenges to mindfulness exercises. These activities promoted personal wellbeing and created a shared experience among employees, contributing to a stronger team spirit across the EMEA region.
The overall usage of the app has been impressive, with consistently high daily active users and employees frequently taking on new challenges. This consistent engagement has been instrumental in maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment across EMEA.
Results:
Users create, on average, 33 challenges per month.
In a quarter, users perform an average of 643 health activities on our Humanoo app.
Conclusion
Humanoo has proven to be a powerful tool in setting a higher standard for corporate wellbeing at Hays EAM. The app has assisted Hays in bringing together a geographically diverse workforce, enhancing an already unified, engaged, and healthy team to an even higher level.
“At the start of this year, we sought a comprehensive wellness programme to boost employee engagement and wellbeing and connect our entire EMEA region on one platform. We wanted something that fostered healthy competition, motivation, and community, while benefiting mental and physical health. We found that in Humanoo! The app’s implementation has been a tremendous success, and we plan to continue its growth and involvement in future events. From charitable initiatives to awareness days, we are confident Humanoo will play a significant role in uniting our 15 countries.” – Ewa Tran, Project Manager DE&I and Wellbeing EMEA at Hays EMEA.
